Bootleg Canyon

We have been hiking out in bootleg canyon these last few weeks.  Lots of mountain bike trails to explore.  I have heard there were some petroglyphs back in there but never found them until i took an unmarked trail (East of Par None) on the mountain bike.  Not sure if these are real as they are very white and almost perfect.  The drawings themselves have the same proportions as other petroglyphs in the southwest.  If they are forgeries, they are good ones.

Family Photos

It has been a while since all of us have been together in the same room.  Not by choice but we have always lived far apart from each other. Everyone is happy and healthy after all these years.

Half Century later photo: The old picture was taken in the early 70s. Here we are a few years later.

Mom turns 80

Somebody turned 80 last week.  All the siblings met for the day and had a fancy dinner and cake afterwards.  It was raining hard and the roof was leaking inside.

Christmas 2022

This year, Christopher joined our Christmas tradition at Margie’s!

She cooked fabulous Christmas Lasagna, Caeser Salad, and Garlic Bread. 🙂

In addition, for our Dessert, we assembled Cannolis using a pre-baked shells and pre-mixed cream, and Margie and I enjoyed making them!

All the ingredients for Lasagna and Cannolis came from Linda’s Italian Foods at Lake Havasu City – Highly recommended.

Everything was very tasty – I would like to make this as our Christmas Tradition!

Omurice

Because of our upcoming travel to Japan to see my family, Rob and I have been watching a lot of videos posted on YouTube for “Studying” purposes.

He encountered a video about Omurice – and he was so fascinated about this simple Japanese family-style dish.

So, I decided to make them as a dinner one night so he will be able to actually taste them –> Outcome = Rob is in LOVE <3

These are the ones with thinly baked like crapes for egg cover, instead of creamy volcano style ones. Inside is a traditional Chicken Rice – but I just used small pieces of hot dogs instead, with a lot of veggies.

Las Vegas Boulevard

We had a chance to stroll around a small part of Las Vegas Boulevard, when we visited Chicago Style Pizza Restaurant, Giordano’s.

Atmosphere was very festive, and a lot of out of towners were enjoying their Christmas holidays in Vegas.

We were able to visit Linq Promenade (a fun street filled with many stores and restaurants towards Linq Ferris Wheel) and also Conservatory at Bellagio.

Also, we were able to see the Bellagio Fountain show up close today 🙂 Fantastic!

Christine’s Birthday

The Usual Six Gangs (Christine, Ray, Taylor, Jose, Rob and I) ventured out to the newest hotel in Las Vegas, Resort World Las Vegas for Christine’s Birthday.

This mega Casino Hotel was built after Stardust Resort and Casino, which was imploded in 2007 – and you can still see the replica of original famous Stardust sign inside of the hotel.

We had fun dining at Famous Foods Street Eats (Fancy food court at Resort World), trying out different types of cuisine!

Turkey

I think we missed Thanksgiving last year sick with covid.  We thought it best to stay home an not infect others.  So we ventured down to Havasu this year where we had a turkey, dressing, spuds, and gravy waiting.  Tomoko made a creamy onion/pea casserole.  We also have to have lots of pie.

Happy Turkey Day
Leftover Pie: 1-2lb of turkey, carrot, onion, peas, gravy and béchamel. I like to use frozen bread dough in the cast iron skillet and then throw it on the grill.

Kevin’s A-School Graduation

Kevin finished the first part of Navy Nuclear Power School, called “A” School on Friday, 11/18/2022.

He received the Personal Excellence Award from the Commander of the school, how awesome!

Here is the Video posted on YouTube –

Kevin received Personal Excellence Award from Commander

Congratulations, Kevin! we are very proud of your another accomplishment.

He just arrived here in Boulder City for Thanksgiving Liberty time for one week.

After his return to Goose Creek, South Carolina, he will have six weeks of temporary daily assignments around the school, then he will start the second half of the Nuclear Power School for another six months.  Wishing him a good luck on further advancements.

Mochinut

Upon shopping at Smith’s on Valle Verde in Henderson, we found donuts shop called Mochinut.

There are many franchises all over California, and started to come in Las Vegas area, yet we did not really know about it until recently.

They are very light yet still has mochi texture due to its batter being made from rice powder.  We like them 🙂
